5 Mindset Hacks for Entrepreneurs: Building A Self-Care and Mindset Routine

What do you do when you are your own worst enemy in business? Riddled with anxiety and imposter syndrome as you climb toward the life and business you dream of.

As an entrepreneur or freelance copywriter, you are your business. If you’re running on an empty tank because of fears, scarcity, and limiting beliefs, your business will suffer for it.

Sure, you can power through sometimes, but this is your business so why force yourself to suck it up for the sake of productivity?

When you get your mindset right, you set yourself on the path to success! Here are 5 mindset hacks that I use every day to build my best life. Use this and build your own routine and watch your life change right before your eyes.

Self-Care Daily

You need… NAY! You deserve time to care for yourself every 👏damn👏day! Write a list of 5 things that make you feel charged up, rejuvenated, and joyful.

These can be things like…

  • Taking a walk outside

  • Dancing or singing

  • Having a cup of tea and reading a good book

  • Having a cuddle sesh with your favorite human or fur baby

  • Writing

It doesn’t have to be fancy, take a long time, or even cost any money. Just make a list of things that, when you’re done with them, you feel at least 10% better without fail.

Then try to do AT LEAST one thing on that list every day.

Journal It Out

Entrepreneurship is hard work, and if you are a freelance copywriter, that freelance rollercoaster struggle is REAL!

Journaling out your wins, points of improvement, and all the feelings in between are so helpful for navigating this journey.

Get a journal and start writing all the feels in them (which means the good and bad ones… don’t forget the good ones!)

Brain dump if you need to. Combine business feels and personal if you want to. It’s your journal, do whatever you want with it.

There are no wrong answers!

If you want one just for business and one for personal, do it! Journaling helps to get all the repeating thoughts and spiraling feelings out of your body so you can process them instead of stew in them.

If you want to get really structured with it, check out the Business Vibes Journal I created. It’s pretty freaking awesome and is a great way to get started with journaling about your business in a way that benefits you.

Affirmations

We all have limiting beliefs and negative self-talk. They can become habitual and almost part of your mental makeup. These thoughts might be about yourselves, your abilities, and your businesses.

Here is where affirmations come in.

Affirmations are a fantastic way to reprogram those limiting beliefs and redirect negative self-talk.

No, you don’t have to say them to yourself in the mirror unless you want to. The important thing is to Repeat and Replace…Here’s how…

Take a limiting belief: No one is going to pay me to be their copywriter.

Rewrite it as an affirmation: I attract clients who see the value in my work.

Repeat it daily, and any time that old limiting belief creeps back up (because it will), redirect it to your affirmation.

This is not to suppress anything! This is to guide your mind into a better space, like adjusting the sails on your ship.

Meditate

You know meditation is good for you because anyone who meditates always tells you to do it.

I know your brain is so busy and loaded that you “can’t” meditate. But, love,... that’s why it's called a practice.

Your mind is like a muscle. If you want it to grow and get stronger, wiser, and less riddled with imposter syndrome and worry, you need to work it out.

Part of helping your brain get stronger, wiser, and less riddled with the hard stuff is to take 10 minutes every day (I prefer the mornings) to calm it the f**k down and direct it to a more positive vibe.

Especially if you are one of the FML kind of morning people. You know, the drag your feet to the coffee pot, don’t function till 10 AM kinds of people.

I feel you there! That’s why, after the coffee, I go to my meditation before starting my work day, and it helps SO much. I tried it in the evening, and it wasn’t as effective for me.

YouTube is loaded with great meditations. Spotify also has some great ones. Start simple, do it every day, and I promise that you will see a difference in 30 days.

Manifest

Okay, this is where I might get a little too woo-woo for you, but I promise there is a science to this.

Whether you believe in manifestation, understand quantum physics or not, you can’t deny that when you visualize something great, you don’t feel great in return.

Spending a little time visualizing your goals coming true, having a vision board of your goals, or doing a guided manifestation meditation are all great tools to manifest the things you are creating.

Maybe think of it as you have to see it to believe it.

This works great in partnership with affirmations because seeing the life you want and stating new beliefs is an amazing way to reprogram your brain towards a happier and more abundant direction.

When you see your goals happening in your mind so you can start believing that they can truly happen. You’re mentally trying it on for a few minutes a day.

You don’t have to do anything fancy. Just see it, feel it, and allow yourself to believe it.

Do all five of these mindset and self-care tips a day. It doesn’t have to take a long time, and you can split them up. Try different variations to see what works best for you and your life, but do them every day, and I promise you will see a difference in your mental health, energy, and in your business.
